Losantville was first known as Hunts Cross Roads. This name was used when the town was first mapped out in 1851.

The name Losantville comes from an older name for Cincinnati, Ohio, which was called Losantiville. A post office opened in Losantville in 1854, and it has been serving the community ever since.
