Lough Anaserd (Irish: Loch an Easaird) is a beautiful freshwater lake found in the west of Ireland. It is located in the western part of County Galway, on a piece of land called the Slyne Head peninsula.

Exploring Lough Anaserd
Lough Anaserd is about 12 kilometres (7 mi) south of a town called Clifden. It is also close to the village of Ballyconneely. The lake is quite large, measuring about 1.2 kilometres (1 mi) long and 1.0 kilometre (0.6 mi) wide. It covers an area of about 0.87 km2 (0.34 sq mi).
Islands and Clear Waters
This lake has many rocky islands scattered across its surface. The water in Lough Anaserd is very clear and clean. Scientists describe it as oligotrophic. This means the lake has low levels of nutrients, which leads to less plant growth in the water.
