Lough Carra (which means Loch Ceara in Irish) is a beautiful lake in County Mayo, Ireland. It's located about 8 miles (13 km) south of a town called Castlebar. This lake is quite special because it's a limestone lake, also known as a marl lake. It covers a huge area of about 4,000 acres (16 square kilometers)!

Lough Carra is about 6 miles (9.7 km) long. Its width changes, from about 400 yards (366 meters) to a full mile (1.6 km) across. The lake isn't super deep on average, usually around 6 feet (1.8 meters). But in some spots, it can go down to 60 feet (18 meters)! Water from Lough Carra flows into another lake called Lough Mask through the Keel River.
