It's known as an unincorporated community, which means it doesn't have its own local government like a city or town does. The community of Elvins is about four miles north of Loughboro, and Doe Run is about three miles to the south-southeast.

About Loughboro

Loughboro is a quiet spot located in the beautiful state of Missouri. It's part of St. Francois County, which is in the eastern part of the state. The community sits right on the floodplain of the St. Francis River. A floodplain is a flat area of land next to a river that can sometimes get covered with water when the river overflows. This area is also connected by a road called Missouri Route B, making it easy to travel to and from nearby places.

Its History

Loughboro has a bit of history, even though it's a small community. A post office was opened there in 1870. A post office is a place where people can send and receive mail. This post office served the community for many years, but it eventually closed down in 1904.

You might notice that the name "Loughboro" looks a bit like "Loughborough." That's because the community most likely got its name from a town called Loughborough in England. It was common for early settlers in America to name new places after towns or cities they remembered from their home countries.
