Louise Lightner Post (born December 7, 1967) is an American musician. She is best known as a singer and guitarist for the alternative rock band Veruca Salt. She started the band with Nina Gordon in 1992.

Her Music Career

Louise Post and Nina Gordon met and decided to form a band called Veruca Salt in Chicago in 1992. They were joined by Steve Lack on bass and Jim Shapiro on drums. Louise and Nina were the main singers, guitarists, and wrote the songs.

The band made a demo tape and sent it to music labels. After playing a few small shows, they signed with Minty Fresh Records. They started recording with producer Brad Wood.

First Albums and Tours

Veruca Salt released a single called "Seether". Their first full album, American Thighs, came out on September 27, 1994. It was later re-released by Geffen Records. The album became very popular and was certified Gold. Other songs from the album included "All Hail Me" and "Number One Blind". To support the album, the band toured with famous groups like Hole and PJ Harvey.

In 1996, Veruca Salt released an EP (a shorter album) called Blow It Out Your ... It's Veruca Salt.

More Success and Changes

The group worked with producer Bob Rock in 1996. Their second album, Eight Arms to Hold You, was released on February 11, 1997. It featured the hit song "Volcano Girls", which was used in the movie Jawbreaker. Another song, "Shutterbug", was performed by the band on the TV show Saturday Night Live.

In 1998, Nina Gordon left the band. Louise Post found new members to continue Veruca Salt. They released another album, Resolver, in 2000. The new band members toured in 2001 and promoted the album in the United Kingdom.

Later Years and Reunion

In 2005, the band toured Australia and released another EP, Lords of Sounds and Lesser Things. This was followed by a full album, IV, in 2006. In 2007, the group recorded a cover of Neil Young's song "Burned" for a charity album. After this, the band took a break. In 2012, they announced their break on their official website.

In 2013, Veruca Salt announced that the original members were getting back together! On September 29, 2013, they shared that they were working on new music. For Record Store Day on April 19, 2014, the band released a special vinyl disc called MMXIV. It had two new songs: "It's Holy" and "The Museum of Broken Relationships". In 2014, the band played concerts in the United States and Australia. Their first album after reuniting, Ghost Notes, was released on July 10, 2015, and received good reviews.

Her Personal Life

Louise Post and Nina Gordon were very close friends when Veruca Salt first started. Later, they had some differences, and Nina left the band. The album Resolver, released in 2000, was the first without Nina. Some people thought the lyrics were about their friendship. However, Louise and Nina never publicly explained why they had their falling out.

In 2003, Louise said that they had become friends again, but not as intensely as before. In 2013, when Nina returned to Veruca Salt, Louise called her "my best friend."

In the late 1990s, Louise Post was in a relationship with Dave Grohl, the leader of Foo Fighters and former drummer for Nirvana.

Louise Post started dating musician Tony Parks in 2001. They got married on March 30, 2008, in Las Vegas. They have one child, who was born in 2010.
