Lovel Palmer was born on August 30, 1984. He is a talented footballer from Jamaica. He plays as a defender, which means he helps protect his team's goal. He also plays as a midfielder, helping both attack and defend. He currently plays for the Des Moines Menace team.

Career
Youth
Lovel Palmer started playing football in Jamaica. He played for his high school team, St. Elizabeth Technical High School. In 1995, he joined a club called Essex Valley FC. In 1998, he went to an international youth tournament in Norway with Essex Valley. He then joined the youth program of Harbour View in January 1999.
Club
Palmer won important titles with Harbour View. These included the Premier League and the Caribbean Club Championship. He won these in 1995 and 2004. Later, he played for W Connection on a temporary loan. While with Harbour View, he also tried out for a team in Norway in 2009.
In 2004, he played eleven games for W Connection and scored two goals. He returned to Harbour View in December 2004. Palmer soon became a leader and captain for Harbour View. He led them to win the Jamaica National Premier League in 2007-2008.
On March 19, 2010, Palmer moved to Houston Dynamo in Major League Soccer (MLS). This is a big league in the United States. On July 21, 2011, Palmer was traded to Portland Timbers. Another player, Mike Chabala, also moved with him.
Portland Timbers decided not to keep Palmer after 2012. He then joined the 2012 MLS Re-Entry Draft. Real Salt Lake picked him on December 14, 2012. He played in the 2013 MLS Cup final. His team lost after a penalty shootout. Six days later, he was traded to Chicago Fire.
After two years with Chicago, Palmer signed with Indy Eleven. This team was part of the North American Soccer League. He joined them on January 12, 2016.
Palmer then signed with Miami FC on August 14, 2017. He left Indy Eleven before this move. In June 2018, Palmer joined Des Moines Menace. This team plays in the USL PDL. He left the club at the end of that season. In June 2021, Palmer returned to professional football. He rejoined Harbour View in the Jamaican Premier League.
International
Palmer also played for Jamaica's national teams. He played for the U-17, U-20, and U-23 teams. He has been a member of the main Jamaica national football team since 2005.
Personal Life
Lovel Palmer has a special card called a U.S. green card. This card allows him to live and work in the United States. It also means he is counted as a local player for MLS teams.
