Discovering Lovelock's Past
How Lovelock Got Its Name
Lovelock got its name from a man named George Lovelock. Originally, his settlement was in a different spot, which is now known as Coutolenc. The post office from that old settlement moved north to this new location. Because of this move, the new place became known as Lovelock.
Early Life in Lovelock
In the past, Lovelock was a busy little community. It had important places like a slaughterhouse, a general store, and a school. The post office was open for many years, from 1871 until 1922. This shows that many people lived and worked there during that time.
Why People Settled Here
People were drawn to Lovelock because of its fresh, clean mountain air. Many chose to build their homes along the roads that go north through the beautiful forest from the Skyway road. Today, you can even find a restaurant called the Lovelock Inn there. It's a nice place for people to visit and enjoy the peaceful surroundings.
