Lovett is a small, quiet place in Indiana that doesn't have its own local government like a city or town. These types of places are called unincorporated communities. Lovett is located in Lovett Township, which is part of Jennings County, Indiana.
History of Lovett
Lovett was officially planned and marked out on a map in 1855. This process, called platting, is like drawing the first blueprint for a new neighborhood or community.
A post office opened in Lovett in 1870. This was a really important place for people to send and receive letters and packages. It stayed open for many years, helping the community connect with the outside world, but eventually closed its doors in 1934.
