Low Gap, Washington facts for kids

Kids Encyclopedia Facts

Low Gap is a small, quiet place in Washington State, in an area called Grant County. It's known as an unincorporated community. This means it's a group of homes and maybe a few buildings that aren't officially part of a city or town. Instead, it's managed by the county government.

History of Low Gap

Low Gap has a short but interesting history. A long time ago, in 1906, a post office was opened there. A post office is a place where people can send and receive mail. This post office was called "Lowgap" and it helped the people living in the area get their letters and packages. It stayed open for about 15 years, closing down in 1921.

The community got its name from a special natural feature nearby. There was a "gap" in the land close to where the community started. A gap in the land is like a low, narrow pass between hills or mountains. This natural gap gave the community its unique name, Low Gap.
