Lucía Baquedano's Life Story
Lucía Baquedano Azcona was born in Pamplona, Spain. She first worked as a secretary for nine years. After getting married, she moved to Tarragona. Later, she returned to Pamplona, her hometown. She became a mother of four children and is now a grandmother.
How Lucía Started Writing
Lucía began her writing journey in 1979. She entered a writing contest with her novel, "Cinco panes de cebada" (Five Barley Loaves). Even though she didn't win first place, she was a finalist for the Gran Angular prize. This encouraged her to keep writing. Her book was published in 1981. It tells the story of a young teacher starting work in a school in the Pyrenees mountains.

Lucía Baquedano has received many important awards for her books. In 1980, she won the El Barco de Vapor prize for children's literature.
