Lucas Riva Amarante "Bebê" Nogueira (born July 26, 1992) is a Brazilian former professional basketball player. He played as a center. Lucas was chosen by the Boston Celtics in the 2013 NBA draft. He was the 16th player picked overall. Later, his rights were traded to the Atlanta Hawks and then to the Toronto Raptors.

Basketball Journey
Playing in Spain (Liga ACB)
From 2009 to 2011, Lucas Nogueira played for the junior team of CB Estudiantes. This is a professional basketball club in Spain.
In 2011, he was loaned to another team, CB Las Rozas, for one season. In January 2012, he returned to CB Estudiantes. He played for them for the rest of the 2011–12 season and also the 2012–13 season.
On June 27, 2013, Lucas signed a new two-year contract with Estudiantes. This was on the same day as the NBA draft. For the 2013–14 season, he won the award for the ACB's Best Defender.
NBA Career Highlights
On April 17, 2013, Lucas Nogueira announced he would enter the 2013 NBA draft. He was picked 16th overall by the Boston Celtics. However, his draft rights were quickly traded to the Atlanta Hawks.
In July 2013, Lucas joined the Hawks for the NBA Summer League. This is a special league where new players get to show their skills.
Joining the Toronto Raptors
On June 30, 2014, Lucas's draft rights were traded again. This time, he went to the Toronto Raptors. He joined the Raptors for the 2014 NBA Summer League. On August 3, 2014, he officially signed with the Raptors.
Lucas made his first NBA appearance on November 21, 2014. He played against the Milwaukee Bucks. In that game, he scored two points and grabbed five rebounds.
Playing in the NBA Development League
Sometimes, players are sent to the NBA Development League (now called the G-League). This helps them get more playing time. On March 12, 2015, Lucas was sent to the Fort Wayne Mad Ants. He was called back by the Raptors on March 26, 2015.
In July 2015, Lucas played for the Raptors again in the NBA Summer League. The Raptors extended his contract through the 2016–17 season. On December 5, 2015, he scored a career-high 14 points against the Golden State Warriors. During the 2015–16 season, he also played several games for Raptors 905. This is the Raptors' team in the NBA Development League.
Later Seasons with the Raptors
On October 23, 2016, the Raptors extended Lucas's contract again, through the 2017–18 season. On November 9, 2016, he scored 10 points and had seven rebounds against the Oklahoma City Thunder.
A few days later, he had six points, 10 rebounds, and a career-high five blocked shots. This was in a game against the New York Knicks.
On October 30, 2017, Lucas scored his highest points in an NBA game, with 17 points. This was in a win against the Portland Trail Blazers. After the 2017–2018 season, Lucas became a free agent. This meant he could sign with any team.
Returning to Spain
On September 19, 2018, Lucas Nogueira signed with Montakit Fuenlabrada in Spain.
Later Career and Retirement
In early 2020, Lucas joined Al-Muharraq in Bahrain. In October 2020, he joined Cearense in Brazil.
However, on February 3, 2021, Lucas announced he was retiring from basketball. He had an injury that, combined with past injuries, made him decide to stop playing.
But he didn't stay retired for long! On August 21, 2021, Lucas returned to basketball. He signed with São Paulo FC in Brazil. In 2022, Lucas signed to play in Canada with the Guelph Nighthawks.

National Team Career
Lucas Nogueira also played for his home country, Brazil. He was part of the Brazilian Under-19 national team. He played in the 2011 FIBA Under-19 World Championship. In that tournament, he was one of the best players for rebounds and blocks. He is also a member of the main Brazilian national basketball team.
Personal Life
Lucas Nogueira married Caroline Kuczynski in Toronto on June 26, 2016. They have a daughter named Stella. Lucas also holds a Spanish passport.
