Lucerne, Knox County, Ohio facts for kids
Lucerne is a small, quiet place in Knox County, Ohio, USA. It's what we call an unincorporated community. This means it doesn't have its own local government, like a mayor or a city council, but it's still a recognized place where people live.
The Story of Lucerne
Lucerne began a long time ago, in the 1830s. That's almost 200 years ago! The people who settled here decided to name their new community after a beautiful place far away: Lake Lucerne in Switzerland.
At first, Lucerne had a post office that opened in 1830. It was called Youngs Mills. But then, in 1850, its name changed to Lucerne, just like the community itself. The post office served the area for many years before it finally closed in 1873.
