Lucia Gai (born on May 3, 1991) is an Italian rugby player. She plays as a Prop for the Italian national team and for the Valsugana club. A prop is a player in the front row of a rugby scrum.

Lucia Gai's Rugby Journey
Lucia Gai was born in Pesaro, Italy. She started playing rugby as a centre. Later, she moved to Mira to join the Brenta Riviera club. There, she changed her playing position to second row, and then finally to prop.
Early Career and First Wins
Lucia won a national championship in her very first season with Brenta Riviera. At just 18 years old, she made her international debut for the Italian national team. This happened during the 2009 FIRA Women's Trophy tournament.
In 2010, Lucia returned to play for Pesaro. She continued to be a regular player for Italy, taking part in the 2011 Six Nations tournament. She then rejoined Brenta Riviera in 2011 for a second time.
Club Success and International Play
In 2016, Lucia moved to Valsugana in Padua. She went there to complete her studies in motor sciences at the local university. While playing for Valsugana, she helped her team win two more championships in 2016 and 2017.
In 2017, Lucia Gai joined a French club called Rennes. That same year, she played for the Italian national team in the 2017 Women's Rugby World Cup in Ireland. The team finished in ninth place overall at the World Cup.
A Rugby Milestone
During the 2024 Six Nations match against Wales, Lucia Gai reached a special milestone. She became only the second Italian woman to play 100 international matches. This is a huge achievement in rugby, showing her dedication and long career.
