Lude was once a small, unincorporated community located in Lake of the Woods County, Minnesota, in the United States. An unincorporated community is a place where people live, but it doesn't have its own local government like a city or town does. Instead, it's usually managed by the county.
What Was Lude?
Lude was found in the southeastern part of Lake of the Woods County. It was near a place called Long Point. The community was situated along Lude Road, which is now known as Lake of the Woods County Road 52.
A Look at the Post Office
For many years, Lude had its own post office. This post office helped people send and receive mail. It was open from 1904 until 1934. A person named Alexander Lude was the postmaster, which means he was in charge of the post office. Today, there are no signs left of the old post office building.
Where is Lude Now?
The community of Lude no longer exists as it once did. Over time, the area changed. Today, the community known as Birch Beach has grown up in the place where Lude used to be.
