Luella Dayrell Bartley MBE (born 1974) is a famous English fashion designer. She has also worked as a magazine editor and journalist in the UK.

About Luella Bartley

Luella Bartley started her career as a journalist and fashion editor for well-known magazines like British Vogue. She studied art at the Warwickshire School of Arts and then at the Central Saint Martins College of Art and Design.

In 1999, Luella started her own fashion brand called "Luella". Her very first collection was named "Daddy, I want a Pony". She showed it at a friend's apartment. A year later, she won the Young Designer of the Year award in Britain.

Her Unique Style

Luella's designs are often inspired by the British music scene. People love her clothes for being fun, a bit punk, and very English. Her first big show at London Fashion Week in 2000 was called "Daddy, who were the Clash?".

Famous Designs and Success

In 2002, Luella designed a popular handbag called the "Gisele" for the brand Mulberry. This bag was a huge hit and helped Mulberry become popular again. Because of this success, a company from Singapore called Club21 invested in her brand. This meant Luella's clothes and accessories could be sold all over the world.

In 2006, Luella was chosen to create a special clothing line for Target's Go International collection.

She has shown her designs many times at London Fashion Week. After living in New York and Milan for several years, she returned to London in 2007. That same week, she opened her first store in London on Brook Street.

Awards and Recognition

In 2008, Luella created a special bag collection called "Friends of Luella" in Hong Kong. Later that year, the British Fashion Council named her 'Designer of the Year'. She had been nominated for this award for two years in a row. In January 2009, she was also called 'International Designer of the Year' by Elle Sweden magazine.

Many famous people have worn Luella's designs. These include singers like Kate Nash, Kelly Osbourne, Lily Allen, and Amy Winehouse. Actresses like Gwyneth Paltrow, Sienna Miller, Keira Knightley, and Reese Witherspoon have also worn her clothes. Even Princess Beatrice and Princess Eugenie have worn her designs!

Later Career

In 2009, Luella was announced to design the Christmas decorations for Liberty, a famous department store. However, her fashion company "Luella" stopped trading in November 2009.

Today, Luella Bartley is a well-known artist. Her work is shown at the Kristin Hjellegjerdw gallery in London.

In 2010, Luella was given a special award called the Member of the Order of the British Empire (MBE). This award is given by the Queen of England to people who have done something amazing for their country.
