Who Started Luffield Priory?

A powerful person named Robert de Beaumont, 1st Earl of Leicester founded Luffield Priory. He started it sometime between the years 1118 and 1135. It was a very important place for almost 400 years. The priory was closed down in 1494.

Where Was Luffield Priory Located?

Most of the land and buildings of Luffield Priory were in Buckinghamshire. However, the church building itself was actually in Northamptonshire. Because of this, the main church leader in Northampton, called the Archdeacon, was in charge of welcoming new leaders to the priory.
