Luiaondo is a small village in the Basque Country, a region in northern Spain. It is part of the Ayala municipality in the Álava province. Luiaondo is also known as a council, which is a type of local government area.
Getting Around Luiaondo
Luiaondo is easy to reach. It is about 25 kilometers (15 miles) from Bilbao and 45 kilometers (28 miles) from Vitoria. You can get there by car, train, or bus. The village has its own train station, Luiaondo station, on the C-3 line of Cercanías Bilbao. There is also a local bus service to help people move around.

Even though Luiaondo is a village, it has useful services for its residents and visitors. You can find places to eat, like a restaurant and bars. There are also grocery stores for shopping and a tobacco shop. For fun, Luiaondo has a covered fronton, which is a court for playing Basque pelota. There is also a bowling alley for more entertainment.
A Bit of History
Luiaondo has an interesting past. Long ago, a special tree called the Malato Tree stood here. This tree was very important because it marked the border of the Lordship of Biscay. The Malato Tree is even shown on the coat of arms for Biscay, a nearby region. In the 1700s, people built a stone cross in the spot where they believed the famous tree once grew.
