Luigi Taveri (born September 19, 1929 – died March 1, 2018) was a famous Swiss motorcycle racer. He competed in the exciting world of Grand Prix motorcycle racing from 1954 to 1966.

Taveri is best known for winning the 125cc world championship three times. He was also special because he scored points in six different Grand Prix classes. These classes included 50cc, 125cc, 250cc, 350cc, 500cc, and even Sidecars (motorcycles with a small car attached). In 2016, he was honored as an FIM Legend for his amazing achievements in motorcycling.

Racing Career Highlights

Luigi Taveri started his world championship journey in 1954. His first race was in the 500cc class, riding a Norton bike.
