Luis Fernández Noseret was a Spanish artist who lived and worked in Madrid from about 1793 to 1829. He was an expert engraver, which means he made pictures by carving designs into metal plates. Luis studied art at the Real Academia de Bellas Artes de San Fernando, a famous art school in Spain. His teacher was Manuel Salvador Carmona, a well-known engraver himself.

Luis Fernández Noseret made many pictures for books and art collections. One important project was a series called Portraits of Illustrious Spaniards. These were pictures of famous people from Spain's history. He engraved portraits of people like Vicente Espinel and Luis de Requesens. He also created an engraving of the explorer Juan Sebastián Elcano. His teacher, Carmona, often guided his work on these projects.

Engravings of Famous Paintings

Luis also made copies of famous paintings using his engraving skills. For example, he reproduced a painting of Saint Catalina by the artist Guido Reni. He also made an engraving of Saint Joseph from a painting by Alonso Cano. These copies helped more people see and appreciate these artworks. He even created portraits of King Charles II and Father Francisco de los Santos [es]. These were based on paintings found in the Monasterio de El Escorial.

Bullfighting and Devotional Art

In 1795, Luis created a special collection of engravings called Collection of the Main Actions of a Bullfight. These pictures showed different parts of a bullfight. Later, around 1819, he made several religious prints. These included images of Aloysius Gonzaga, Saint Nicholas, Saint Isidore, and Mary of Egypt. These prints were made for people to use in their prayers and devotions.

His Last Known Work

Luis Fernández Noseret's last known work was in 1829. He created illustrations for a book called Meditations on Divine Attributes for Every Day of the Year. This book was written by Teodoro de Almeida.
