Luitgarde of Vermandois (born around 914 – died February 9, 978) was an important noblewoman from France. She belonged to the Herbertian family.
Luitgarde was a countess through her marriages. First, she became the Countess of Rouen and Normandy. Later, she was the Countess of Blois and Chartres.
She was the daughter of Herbert II of Vermandois. Her mother was Adele, who was the daughter of Robert I of France.
Luitgarde first married William I of Normandy before the year 940. After he passed away in 942, she married Theobald I of Blois. This second marriage happened in 943 or 944.
Her Family
Luitgarde had at least three children with her second husband, Theobald I of Blois. They were:
- Hugh, who became the Archbishop of Bourges (he died in 985).
- Odo, who became the Count of Blois (he died in 996).
- Emma, who married William IV of Aquitaine (she died in 1003).
