Luiz Henrique Vieira (born February 4, 1972), known as Luizinho Vieira, is a Brazilian football coach and former player. He played as an attacking midfielder, which is a player who helps both attack and defend. He is currently the head coach for the Confiança team.

Luizinho Vieira: A Football Journey

Luizinho Vieira was born in Criciúma, a city in Santa Catarina, Brazil. He started his football journey in his hometown, playing for the youth team of Criciúma EC. He made his first appearance for the main team in 1992.

Early Days as a Player

After playing a few matches for Criciúma, Luizinho moved to Brasil de Pelotas in 1995. There, he started scoring goals more often, showing his skills as an attacking player.

Playing for Top Clubs

In 1997, Luizinho Vieira joined Atlético Paranaense. He then went on loan to a Chinese club, Shandong Luneng, in 1998. In the summer of 1999, he moved to Japan to play for J1 League club Gamba Osaka. He played 15 matches for them and scored 6 goals.

After his time in Japan, Luizinho returned to Atlético Paranaense in 2000. He also played for Brasil de Pelotas again that year. In 2001, he joined Santa Cruz and became their top scorer in the 2001 Série A league, scoring 12 goals.

Later Playing Years

In 2002, Luizinho Vieira played for Al-Ittihad in Saudi Arabia. He then returned to Brazil and helped Marília get promoted from the Série C league, scoring six goals. He also played for Ponte Preta and Atlético Sorocaba.

In 2005, Luizinho was part of the 15 de Novembro team that finished second in the 2005 Campeonato Gaúcho championship. He scored a goal in the final match. He later played for several other clubs, including ABC, Joinville, Ceilândia, Próspera, and Oeste. He retired from playing football with Oeste in 2008, when he was 36 years old.

From Player to Coach

After ending his playing career, Luizinho Vieira started a new path as a football coach. He began as an assistant coach in 2010.

Starting as a Coach

In 2010, Luizinho worked as an assistant coach for Novo Hamburgo. In March 2011, he became the head coach of Farroupilha. Later that year, he moved to Botafogo-SP, first coaching the under-20 team and then the main squad. He then took on a coaching role at his former club, Brasil de Pelotas.

Coaching Different Teams

After leaving Brasil de Pelotas in 2012, Luizinho returned to Farroupilha in 2013. In September 2013, he started coaching the under-20 team of Criciúma. He also served as an interim (temporary) head coach for Criciúma's main team in 2014.

In 2015, Luizinho Vieira was officially appointed as Criciúma's head coach. He later became an assistant coach for the team. After leaving Criciúma at the end of 2016, he became the head coach of Itumbiara.

Leading Teams to Success

Luizinho Vieira continued his coaching career with various clubs. He coached Luverdense in 2018 and Sergipe in 2019. He then led Volta Redonda starting in late 2019.

In 2021, he coached Manaus and Retrô. Later that year, he took over Passo Fundo and then Ypiranga-RS.

In July 2023, he became the head coach of Confiança. He then moved to Amazonas in the same year. Luizinho led Amazonas to a great achievement: they won the 2023 Campeonato Brasileiro Série C and were promoted to the second division for the first time in their history.

After leaving Amazonas in April 2024, he coached Brusque for a few months. In September 2024, he agreed to coach Caxias for the 2025 season. In April 2025, he returned to coach Confiança.
