Playing Career Highlights
Luke Walsh first became well-known while playing for the Newcastle Knights. He made his first big game appearance in 2007. This was in round 12 against the Sydney Roosters. He played as a halfback, even though he had been dealing with an ankle injury. After that season, he had surgery on his ankle.
In March 2009, Walsh joined the Penrith Panthers. He quickly made an impact, scoring the first try in his very first game for the Panthers. This was against the Gold Coast Titans. His teammates recognized his hard work and skill. In 2011, he was named the Players' Player for the Panthers.
Later in his career, on May 28, 2013, Luke Walsh signed a deal to play for St Helens in the Super League. After playing two seasons there, he moved to another Super League team, the Catalans Dragons. He was a key player for them in 2017. However, in April 2018, he announced his retirement from professional rugby league. This decision was made based on medical advice, meaning it was for his health.
Even after retiring from the top leagues, Walsh continued to play rugby league. He has played as a halfback for the Central Charlestown Butcher Boys. This team is part of the Newcastle Rugby League first grade competition. It was also reported that he signed with the Macquarie Scorpions for the 2025 season.
