About Lupita Ferrer

Lupita Ferrer was born in Maracaibo, Venezuela. Her parents were immigrants from Spain. She became famous for her beautiful, expressive eyes and her strong acting on stage.

Lupita started acting in plays when she was just 15 years old. One of her first big roles was playing Ofelia in Shakespeare's "Hamlet." When she was 18, the Venezuelan President, Raul Leoni, saw her perform in a play called "Dona Rosita La Soltera." He was very impressed by her amazing talent.

In the 1960s, Lupita worked in many movies made in Mexico and also movies made with both Venezuelan and Mexican teams. She acted alongside famous actors like Mario Moreno, known as "Cantinflas." In the 1970s, she even worked in Hollywood movies, sharing the screen with actors like Tony Curtis.

Some of her first telenovelas included Esmeralda, where she played a young blind woman. She also starred in Mariana de la Noche (1975), which was about a forbidden love story. Other popular telenovelas were María Teresa, La Zulianita, Pecados Ajenos, and Cristal.

Lupita Ferrer lives in Miami today.

She was married to the American film director Hall Bartlett for four years. He cast her in his movie The Children of Sanchez (1978). In this film, she acted with Anthony Quinn and the legendary Dolores del Río. The movie is also known for its Grammy Award-winning music by Chuck Mangione.

In 1985, Lupita starred in a very successful telenovela called "Cristal." It was made in Venezuela. In "Cristal," she played Victoria Ascanio. Victoria was a humble girl who had to give up her baby girl after a difficult time. Years later, Victoria became the owner of a big fashion design company. She was very strict. She hired a beautiful young girl and later found out this girl was her long-lost daughter. This discovery made Victoria feel guilty and sad. "Cristal" was a huge hit in South America, the U.S., Europe, and Asia. It was even translated into many different languages.

In 2006, Lupita Ferrer appeared in the American TV show Ugly Betty. She played an actress in a telenovela who got into a fight with a nurse. The nurse was played by Salma Hayek, who also created Ugly Betty. In 2007, Lupita acted in Telemundo's Pecados ajenos. In this show, she played the main villain, the evil Agata Mercenario. In 2010, she was in Eva Luna as Justa Valdéz. In 2012, Lupita also starred in a telenovela called "Rosa Diamante" (Precious Rose).
