Lustre, Montana facts for kids

Lustre is a small community in Valley County, Montana, in the United States. About 200 people live there. It's surrounded by big fields of wheat and ranches with cattle. Most people in Lustre work in farming.

History of Lustre

Lustre was started in the early 1900s. Many of the first families were Mennonites. They settled on land that was part of the Fort Peck Indian Reservation. Today, Lustre has two churches and two schools.

The Lustre Mennonite Brethren Church began in 1917. The Evangelical Mennonite Brethren Church started around the same time. Both churches work together. They hold worship services, run a camp, and do helpful projects for the community. They also support programs like AWANA and Beacon Bible Camp.

Lustre has long, warm summer days. The winters are cold, windy, and short. It's often quite windy here. There isn't much moisture in the air. This means Lustre rarely gets heavy, wet snow in winter.
