Luther J. Riley, born on December 4, 1971, is an American basketball coach. He used to be the head coach at Alcorn State University. Before that, he coached at John W. Provine High School. There, he led his team to win five state championships over eleven seasons.

Early Life and Education
Luther Riley grew up in Walnut Grove, Mississippi. He went to East Central Community College and earned a degree in 1992. Later, he got a Master's degree from Alcorn State University in 1998. He played college basketball at East Central and Mississippi Valley. Riley is also part of groups like the 100 Black Men of Jackson.
Coaching at Provine High School
Coach Riley led the John W. Provine High School Rams for eleven years. His teams had a great winning record, winning 286 games and losing only 70. He helped them win five state championships. Because of his success, he was named coach of the year five times.
Coaching at Alcorn State
On March 28, 2011, Riley became the head coach at Alcorn State University. He coached the team for almost four full seasons. During the 2014–2015 season, Coach Riley took some time away from coaching. He did not return to Alcorn State, and his coaching agreement ended in March 2015.
Coaching at Columbus High School
In May 2015, Riley was announced as the head basketball coach at Columbus High School. With player Robert Woodard II on the team, Columbus had a great season in 2015–2016. They won 27 games and lost only 5. They also won the 6A state championship. After this success, Riley was named coach of the year. However, he did not sign a new agreement with the school district.
High School Leadership Roles
In June 2020, Riley was introduced as the principal at Bessemer City High School. A few days later, his offer for a new role was put on hold by the school board.
In September 2020, Riley was hired as the assistant principal at Holt High School. This school is part of the Tuscaloosa County School System. He became the principal of the school on June 7, 2021. However, he left this position on February 22, 2022.
