Robert Anthony Woodard II (born September 22, 1999) is an American professional basketball player. He currently plays for the Delaware Blue Coats in the NBA G League. Before becoming a professional, he played college basketball for Mississippi State.

Growing Up and High School Basketball
Robert Woodard II loved playing both basketball and baseball when he was younger. As he got taller, he decided to focus only on basketball by the time he started high school. He was so good that colleges were already interested in him when he was in eighth grade!
He played high school basketball at Columbus High School in Columbus, Mississippi.
- As a sophomore, Robert helped Columbus win its first Mississippi Class 6A state championship. He scored about 20 points and grabbed 7 rebounds per game.
- In his junior year, he was even better, averaging 25 points and 13 rebounds. He was named Mississippi Gatorade Player of the Year.
- As a senior, Robert won his second state championship and was again named Mississippi Gatorade Player of the Year.
Many colleges wanted Robert to play for them. He was a top player in his state. He chose to play college basketball for Mississippi State.
College Basketball Career
Robert played for Mississippi State for two years.
- In his first year (freshman year), he played about 17 minutes per game. He averaged 5.5 points and 4.1 rebounds. He worked hard on his shooting and got stronger during the summer.
- In his second year (sophomore year), Robert really improved. On November 17, 2019, he scored a career-high 21 points and grabbed 16 rebounds in one game. For the season, he averaged 11.4 points and 6.5 rebounds per game.
After his sophomore year, Robert decided to enter the 2020 NBA draft. This meant he would leave college early to try and play professionally.
Professional Basketball Journey
Robert Woodard II was chosen by the Memphis Grizzlies as the 40th pick in the 2020 NBA draft. Soon after, he was traded to the Sacramento Kings.
Playing for the Kings and Spurs
Robert signed with the Sacramento Kings in December 2020. In February 2021, he was sent to play for the Austin Spurs in the NBA G League. This is like a minor league for the NBA, where players can get more playing time.
In January 2022, he was assigned to the Stockton Kings, another G League team. He later left the Kings in February 2022.
Time with Oklahoma City Blue
In February 2022, Robert joined the Oklahoma City Blue, which is the G League team for the Oklahoma City Thunder. He also signed a special "two-way contract" with the San Antonio Spurs. This type of contract allows players to play for both an NBA team and its G League team.
He signed with the Oklahoma City Thunder in October 2022 but was waived shortly after. He then returned to play for the Oklahoma City Blue for the 2022–2023 season.
Playing Overseas
In August 2023, Robert moved to France to play for ADA Blois in the French league. In December 2023, he moved again to play for Maroussi in Greece.
Back in the G League
In October 2024, Robert joined the Memphis Hustle, another G League team. Then, in January 2025, he was traded to his current team, the Delaware Blue Coats.
Playing for Team USA
Robert has also played for the United States national team. He won a gold medal with the team at the 2015 FIBA Americas Under-16 Championship. This big tournament was held in Argentina. He played in all five games and helped his team win!
Personal Life
Robert Woodard II comes from a family of basketball players. His father, also named Robert Woodard, was a fantastic basketball player too! He was the all-time leading scorer in Mississippi high school boys' basketball before he went on to play for Mississippi State, just like his son.
