Her Early Life and Dream to Act
Luz Valdivieso was born in Santiago, Chile. She went to a school called Colegio Institución Teresiana. Later, she started studying psychology at the University of Chile. After two years, she realized her true passion was acting! She decided to follow her dream and joined the School of Teatro de Gustavo Meza. By the end of her first year there, she knew acting was what she wanted to do.
Acting on TV
Luz Valdivieso started her TV career in a telenovela (a type of soap opera) called Piel Canela (Cinnamon-toned skin). She played a character named Anita Moreno. Her next role was Estefania in Buen Partido (Good game). This was her first time playing an "antagonistic" role, which means she played a character who was a rival or villain.
Later, she joined the TV channel TVN for a new teen telenovela called 16. In this show, she played an energetic girl named Alejandra. After 16, she joined the cast of the first night-time telenovela, Ídolos (Idols). Here, she played Natalia Medina, a young rebel. Her strong acting in this role got a lot of attention.
After Ídolos, she appeared in 17 and then in the night-time telenovela Los Treinta (The Thirties). In Los Treinta, she played Simona, a married woman who wanted more independence. She decided to leave her husband and son to find her own freedom.
Her growing fame led her to a big role in another TVN telenovela, Versus. She played her second antagonistic role as Vanesa Carrera. This character fought for the love of Octavio Cox, played by Cristián Arriagada. She also made special appearances in the series Disparejas (Different).
Acting in Movies
Luz Valdivieso's first movie role was in 2004. It was a film called No me toques (Don't touch me). She acted alongside Carmen Gloria Bresky, Sebastian Layseca, and Benjamín Vicuña. The movie was directed by Mauro Bravo.
Her second movie role came in La remolienda (The binge), which was released in 2007.
Her Family Life
Luz Valdivieso is married to Marcial Tagle. He is also an actor and has appeared in the TV series Casado con Hijos on the MEGA channel. They have two children: María Tagle, born in 2008, and Marcial Jr. Tagle, born in 2011.
