The Lyceum Music Festival is a special event for young musicians. It started in 2008. This festival works with the Utah Symphony and their Deer Valley Music Festival. It takes place near Zion National Park at Zion Ponderosa Ranch. The festival helps musicians aged 14 to 21 learn and grow. They also put on many concerts.

History of the Lyceum Music Festival

The Lyceum Music Festival was started by Kayson Brown. He wanted young musicians to meet and learn from professional artists. The festival began as a short day camp. With help from the Utah Symphony and American Heritage School, it grew. Now, it's a week-long festival where students can stay overnight.

In 2012, something very cool happened. The festival orchestra played a song called "Beethoven's 5 Secrets." They performed it with a famous group called The Piano Guys. They put the video on YouTube. It quickly got over 2 million views in just two months!

What Happens at the Festival

About 100 students from all over the United States join the festival. They get to perform with famous musicians. These concerts happen at the OC Tanner Amphitheater. Everyone is welcome to come and watch.

The festival teaches students about careers in classical music. They learn important skills to become professional musicians. Students work to prepare a concert that features special guest artists. They get training from musicians of the Utah Symphony. They also practice chamber music with rising string quartets. Plus, they work closely with professional conductors and guest artists. The festival also includes fun activities, leadership training, and entertainment.
