About the Festival
The Deer Valley Music Festival takes place over five weeks. It is held in the beautiful mountain town of Park City, Utah. The festival offers different kinds of musical experiences.
On Wednesday nights, the Utah Symphony performs chamber orchestra music. This takes place in the cozy setting of St. Mary's Catholic Church. Thursday nights often feature other guest chamber groups, also at St. Mary's.
Friday and Saturday nights are usually big classical music performances. These often feature guest artists who play popular music. These larger concerts are held outdoors at the Deer Valley Resort Snow Park Outdoor Amphitheater. There are also small, private concerts called "salon performances." These happen in local homes and feature guest artists or members of the Utah Symphony.
The festival also includes educational events. These include masterclasses, where you can learn from expert musicians. There is also a performance by "Emerging Quartets & Composers." The festival works with the Lyceum Music Festival too. This festival helps young musicians aged 13 to 21.
How It All Started
The Deer Valley Music Festival began in 2003. It was started by Utah Symphony & Opera President & CEO Anne Ewers. The Utah Symphony Music Director, Keith Lockhart, also helped to create the festival.
