Lyford, also known as Williamson, is a small community in Parke County, Indiana. It is located in the western part of Florida Township. Lyford is considered an "unincorporated community," which means it doesn't have its own local government like a city or town. It's also a "census-designated place," which means the government counts its population for statistics.
Lyford was once home to the Lyford School.
History of Lyford
Lyford was started in 1892. It was named after W. H. Lyford, who was an important official for the railroad.
A post office opened in Lyford in the same year, 1892. This post office helped people send and receive mail. However, it closed down in 1912.
