The Lynn Canyon Suspension Bridge is a cool bridge for people to walk across. It's found inside Lynn Canyon Park in North Vancouver, British Columbia. This bridge hangs about 50 meters (that's about 164 feet) above the bottom of the canyon! It was first built way back in 1912.

This bridge helps connect many awesome hiking trails on both sides of the canyon. It's even part of a bigger trail called the Baden-Powell Trail. Lots of visitors come just to see the suspension bridge, even if they don't go hiking.

Many people compare this free bridge to the Capilano Suspension Bridge nearby, which costs money to visit. While the Lynn Canyon bridge is a bit shorter and not as high, it's narrower and swings around more when you walk on it! For many local people, the best part is that it's completely free to cross.

A Look Back in Time

  • Long ago, visitors had to pay a small fee, called a toll, to cross the bridge. It started at ten cents, then became five cents.
  • Later, the bridge became public, and everyone could cross it for free.
  • Since March 2020, the bridge has been closed sometimes by the District of North Vancouver. This was to help people keep a safe distance from each other during the COVID-19 pandemic.

Featured on Screen

The Lynn Canyon Suspension Bridge has appeared in several TV shows and movies:

  • Beyond Belief: Fact or Fiction - In one story, the bridge was called "Syke's Bridge" and was said to be on the "Misty Loop Trail." In the episode, the bridge broke. This story was from 2002.
  • Disney's Descendants - The bridge was used as part of Auradon. It led to Lynn Canyon's 30 Foot Pool, which was shown as the Enchanted Lake in the movie.
  • MacGyver - The bridge was featured in an episode called "The Invisible Killer."
