Lynne Richardson grew up in New York. She went to the Massachusetts Institute of Technology, often called MIT, which is a very famous school. There, she earned a bachelor's degree in life sciences and management.
After MIT, she continued her studies at the Albert Einstein College of Medicine. This is where she earned her medical degree and became a doctor. Dr. Richardson then trained to be an emergency doctor at Jacobi Medical Center. She also did special research to learn more about improving health services. In 1985, she became officially certified in Emergency Medicine.

Lynne Richardson has a daughter named Kristin Richardson Jordan. Kristin followed her own path in public service. She was a member of the New York City Council for the 9th District, which includes Harlem. She served from 2022 to 2024 after winning an election in 2021.
