History of Lyonsville
Lyonsville has an interesting past! Long ago, this community was known by a different name. It was originally called Lyons Station.
In 1916, people decided to change its name to Lyonsville. This was done to prevent mix-ups with another place. There was already a town called Lyons in Greene County, Indiana. Renaming it helped everyone know which place was which.
One of the very first settlers in this area was a person named Abraham Lyons. He was an important pioneer who helped establish Jennings Township.
