Marcy Thomas (born December 8, 1950), also known as Lyrica Garrett, is an American singer and actress. She started her career in the 1970s as an Ikette. This meant she was a backup singer and dancer for the famous group Ike & Tina Turner.
Lyrica Garrett also sang with other groups like The Undisputed Truth. She performed with well-known musicians such as Rick James and Johnny "Guitar" Watson. Besides music, she acted in the touring play The Wiz. Later, she appeared on the VH1 reality show Love & Hip Hop: Hollywood with her daughter, Lyrica Anderson.

Life and Music Career
Marcy Thomas was born in Houston, Texas on December 8, 1950. She showed musical talent from a young age. When she was just twelve years old, she became the music director for a youth choir. By the time she was fifteen, she was already writing her own songs and performing them.
Joining the Ikettes
In 1974, Thomas successfully tried out for bandleader Ike Turner. She became an Ikette, which was a backup singer and dancer for the popular group Ike & Tina Turner. She traveled all over the world with them. She also appeared on many television shows, including Soul Train and The Midnight Special. She left the Ikettes in 1975.
New Groups and Acting
After leaving the Ikettes, Thomas joined the touring musical show The Wiz in 1976. She performed in the show for two years. In 1978, she joined the funk music group The Undisputed Truth. She became the main female singer for their album Smokin', which came out in 1979.
Thomas also sang backup vocals for other artists. In 1981, she was a background singer on Rick James' album Street Songs. This album became very popular and topped the R&B music charts. As an actress, she also had roles in the movies Penitentiary II (1982) and Perfume (1991).
Later Career and TV
In 1988, Thomas rejoined Ike Turner as one of his Ikettes. Later, she started using the professional name Lyrica Garrett. She toured with Ike Turner again in 2006. They performed famous songs like "River Deep, Mountain High" and "Proud Mary" at a concert series called Night of the Proms. She also performed with the band Tears for Fears.
In 2016, Lyrica Garrett joined the TV show Love & Hip Hop: Hollywood. This reality show also starred her daughter, Lyrica Anderson. In 2019, Garrett released a music video for her song "Summertime Love." This song was from her album called Ready.
