Máximo Orlando Banguera Valdivieso, born on December 16, 1985, is a talented Ecuadorian football player. He is known for his skills as a goalkeeper. Currently, he plays for the team Naranja Mekánica.

Máximo Banguera's Club Career

Máximo Banguera started his football journey at ESPOLI. He played for their youth team from 2003 to 2004. Then, he joined their main team from 2004 to 2008. During this time, he played 118 games as a goalkeeper.

Playing for Barcelona

Banguera became very well-known while playing for Barcelona. He joined this big club in 2009 and stayed for ten years until 2019. He played over 400 games for Barcelona. This made him one of their most important players.

During his time with Barcelona, he helped the team win two major titles. They won the Serie A league in 2012 and again in 2016. These were big wins for the club and for Banguera.

Later Club Teams

After leaving Barcelona, Banguera signed with El Nacional for the 2020 season. However, he did not play any games for them. He was a backup goalkeeper during his time there.

Later in 2020, Banguera moved to Delfín. He played 35 games for Delfín until 2023. In 2021, he also played for Guayaquil City on loan, appearing in 18 matches. In September 2022, Banguera received a three-game suspension after an incident with a player from Mushuc Runa.

Máximo Banguera's International Career

Banguera has also played for his country, Ecuador. He represented Ecuador in many important matches.

Early International Success

In 2007, Banguera won a gold medal with the Ecuador team. This happened at the 2007 Pan American Games. It was a great achievement early in his career.

He played his first game for the senior national team in November 2008. This was against the Mexico team. He played the whole game and performed very well.

World Cup Qualifiers

After another goalkeeper, Marcelo Elizaga, retired in 2011, Banguera became the main goalkeeper for Ecuador. He was expected to play a big role in the 2014 FIFA World Cup Qualifiers.

However, due to some injuries, he could only start a few games. Eventually, he lost his starting spot to Alexander Domínguez. Other goalkeepers like Librado Azcona and Esteban Dreer also started playing more for the national team. Because of this, Banguera was not chosen for the 2015 Copa America team.
