Mònica López Moyano, born on January 10, 1975, is a Spanish meteorologist and television presenter. She is well-known for forecasting the weather on Televisión Española's Telediario 2. She also leads the weather department at RTVE. Since September 2020, she has been the presenter of the TVE1 show La Hora de la 1.

About Mònica López
Early Life and Education
Mònica López finished her studies in physics in 1997 at the University of Barcelona. She focused on the physics of Earth and space. Later, in 2016, she earned a master's degree in political analysis. She also completed a course in corporate communication and branding. Both of these were from the Open University of Catalonia.
Career in Television
After her physics studies, Mònica joined SAM. This was the first Spanish company focused on weather information. She first appeared on television on a show called Teletiempo. Later, she worked for Canal Meteo.
She then joined the weather team at TV3. From 2004 to 2008, she was a meteorologist for the morning show Els matins
. She also hosted the New Year's countdown on TV3 in 2006–2007. Since 2005, she has written about weather for the magazine NAT.In 2008, Mònica López joined RTVE. She became the director of their weather department. She also started presenting the weather on TVE's Telediario 2. She took over from José Antonio Maldonado
. She took breaks for maternity leave in 2010 and 2011. For a short time in 2012–2013, she presented the weather on Telediario 1. However, she soon returned to Telediario 2.Helping Others Understand Weather
In 2012, Mònica López co-founded ACOMET. This group helps improve how weather information is shared in Spain. She is the president of its board. ACOMET helped update a guide for weather terms.
She also worked with the Agencia Estatal de Meteorología (AEMET). They collaborated with the World Meteorological Organization. Together, they created a video series called "El tiempo en 2050". This series shows what the weather might be like in the future.
Awards and Recognition
- In 2015, Mònica received a special award. It was for her TV weather forecasts from the European Meteorological Society.
- In 2016, she won an Ondas Award. This award was for being a great TV presenter. She won for making weather news interesting and new. She used different TV tools to make viewers curious about weather.
