Mónica Fernández Balboa (born July 4, 1966) is a Mexican architect and politician. She has been an important figure in Mexico's government. She has served in both the Senate and the Chamber of Deputies. She is a member of the National Regeneration Movement (Morena) political party. Before that, she was part of the Party of the Democratic Revolution (PRD).

Early Life and Education
Mónica Fernández Balboa was born in Teapa, Tabasco, Mexico. She studied architecture at the Universidad Autónoma de Guadalajara. This education helped her prepare for a career in public service.
Serving in the Senate
Mónica Fernández Balboa served as a Senator for the state of Tabasco. She was a Senator during the 64th Congress, from 2018 to 2024. The Senate is one of the two main parts of Mexico's national legislature. Senators help make laws for the country.
As President of the Senate
From September 1, 2019, to August 31, 2020, Mónica Fernández Balboa held a very important role. She was the President of the Senate. This means she was in charge of leading the Senate's meetings and making sure everything ran smoothly. She was chosen for this role with many votes from her fellow Senators.
In the Chamber of Deputies
Before becoming a Senator, Mónica Fernández Balboa was a member of the Chamber of Deputies. This is the other main part of Mexico's national legislature. She served as a Deputy from 2006 to 2009. She represented Tabasco's 6th district during the 60th Congress. As a Deputy, she also helped create and approve laws for Mexico.
