M. Mandy Dawson (born Muriel Mandy Dawson on July 18, 1956) is an American politician. She was a member of the Florida Senate, representing the 29th District from 1999 to 2008. Before that, she served in the Florida House of Representatives from 1993 to 1998.

Early Life and Education
Mandy Dawson was born in Fort Lauderdale, Florida. When she was six years old, her family moved to Daytona Beach. She attended Florida A&M University from 1975 to 1980. Later, she earned a Bachelor of Science degree in social work from Barry University.
Political Career
Mandy Dawson made history in Florida politics. She was the first African-American woman elected to the Florida Legislature from Broward County. During her time as a lawmaker, she worked on important issues.
Key Legislative Efforts
- She supported laws to help people who had been in trouble with the law get a fresh start.
- She worked on rules to prevent children from being left alone in locked cars.
- She also focused on making sure all people had fair access to health care. This included keeping Black doctors on health care plans.
After leaving her elected office, Mandy Dawson continued to be involved in politics. She worked as a manager for political campaigns.
Personal Life
Mandy Dawson married Hobson Bethune in 2010. Hobson Bethune was a retired Marine. He was also a well-known coach for youth sports for many years. Mr. Bethune passed away in 2017.
