Mabel Matiz is the stage name of Fatih Karaca, a popular Turkish pop and rock singer-songwriter. He was born on August 31, 1985. Before becoming a famous musician, he was a dentist.
His stage name, Mabel Matiz, has a special meaning. "Mabel" comes from a character in one of his favorite Turkish novels, Kumral Ada Mavi Tuna. "Matiz" is an old Greek slang word that means "tipsy" or "dazed." He felt this name showed his unique way of looking at the world.

Early Life and Education
Fatih Karaca grew up in Mersin, Turkey. His father, Ali, was a truck driver, and his mother was Maya. As a child, Fatih had a stutter, which made speaking difficult for him. He found that writing and music helped him express himself and build his confidence. In high school, he even joined a theater group.
After finishing school in Mersin, he moved to Istanbul to go to college. In 2008, he graduated from Istanbul University with a degree in dentistry. He worked at a health clinic for a short time before deciding to follow his dream of a career in music.
Mabel Matiz is also known for supporting equal rights for all people.
Musical Career
Getting Started
In 2008, Mabel Matiz started sharing his songs online on a website called Myspace. A Turkish music producer named Engin Akıncı heard his music and liked it. Akıncı offered him a chance to make an album.
In 2011, Mabel Matiz released his first album, also called Mabel Matiz. He wrote and composed almost all the songs on the album himself.
Becoming Famous
His second album, Yaşım Çocuk, came out in 2013. It was a huge success. The album included popular songs like "Zor Değil" and "Alaimisema." It also had a cover of the famous song "Aşk Yok Olmaktır" by Yıldız Tilbe. The album was so popular that a major Turkish newspaper named it the "Album of the Year."
In 2013, he also took part in an album honoring the famous songwriter Aysel Gürel. He sang a version of the song "Sultan Süleyman," which was originally performed by Sezen Aksu.
Remembering His Parents
Mabel Matiz has used his music to honor his parents. He named his fourth album Maya after his mother. One of the songs on that album, "Babamı Beklerken" (which means "Waiting for My Father"), was written for his dad. His father passed away on February 23, 2019.
An interesting fact is that in 2020, two questions on Turkey's university entrance exam included lyrics from his songs. This caused a lot of discussion on social media.
