Fatih Karaca (born August 31, 1985), known by his stage name Mabel Matiz, is a popular Turkish pop singer and songwriter. He is famous for his unique music style and meaningful songs.

He chose his stage name from two different ideas. "Mabel" comes from a Turkish novel called Kumral Ada Mavi Tuna. It's the nickname of a main character in the book. "Matiz" is a word that means "bright" or "clever" in his own special way. Together, "Mabel Matiz" shows his view of the world and life.

Mabel Matiz's Music Journey

Mabel Matiz started sharing his own songs online through Myspace in 2008. A Turkish music producer named Engin Akıncı noticed his talent. He offered Mabel Matiz a chance to make an album.

First Albums and Popular Songs

Mabel Matiz released his first studio album, also called Mabel Matiz, in 2011. He wrote and composed almost all the songs on this album himself.

In 2013, he released his second album, Yaşım Çocuk. This album included a cover of a popular song by Yıldız Tilbe called "Aşk Yok Olmaktır". Many songs from Yaşım Çocuk became big hits. Songs like "Zor Değil", "Aşk Yok Olmaktır", "Yaşım Çocuk", and "Alaimisema" were very popular. The album was even named "Album of the Year" by Milliyet Sanat magazine.

Mabel Matiz also contributed to a special album in 2013. This album was a tribute to the famous songwriter Aysel Gürel. He performed a Sezen Aksu song called "Sultan Süleyman" for it.

About Mabel Matiz's Life

Mabel Matiz grew up with his father, Ali, who was a truck driver and a veteran, and his mother, Maya, a housewife. When he was a child, he had a severe stutter. This made it hard for him to express himself.

Overcoming Challenges and Education

He worked hard to overcome his stutter by focusing on writing and music. This helped him build his confidence. By the time he was in high school, he was even performing in a theater group.

After finishing school in Mersin, he moved to Istanbul for university. He studied dentistry at Istanbul University and graduated in 2008. He worked as a dentist for a short time before fully focusing on his music career. Mabel Matiz is also known for supporting LGBTI+ rights.

Family and Inspiration

Mabel Matiz honored his parents through his music. He named his fourth studio album Maya after his mother. The song "Babamı Beklerken" (meaning "While waiting for my father") on the same album was written for his father. His father passed away in 2019.

In 2020, two questions in a university entrance exam in Turkey featured lyrics from Mabel Matiz's album Maya and his song "Fırtınadayım". This created a lot of discussion on social media.
