MacArthur Center is a big shopping mall located in Norfolk, Virginia. It's a popular spot in the Hampton Roads area. This mall was built by the Taubman Company and is now owned by Starwood Capital Group. It's a great place to shop, eat, and have fun!

MacArthur Center: A Fun Place to Shop!
This large mall is about 1,100,000 sq ft (100,000 m2) in size. It is right next to the General Douglas MacArthur Memorial. The mall has many different stores for you to explore.
What You Can Find There
MacArthur Center has around 140 stores. It also has a big movie theater called Regal MacArthur 18. You can find lots of places to eat in the food court too.
The mall has "anchor stores," which are usually very large department stores. Dillard's is one of the main anchor stores here. Another big anchor store space is currently empty.
How the Mall Started
Plans for MacArthur Center were first shared in June 1994. The mall officially opened its doors on March 12, 1999. It brought many new stores to the area.
One of the first big stores to open was Nordstrom. However, Nordstrom closed its location at the mall on April 5, 2019. In 2019, Gameworks announced they would open a fun entertainment spot there in 2020.
Recent Times
Like many places, MacArthur Center had to close for a while in March 2020. This was due to the COVID-19 pandemic. The mall later reopened for visitors on May 21, 2020.
=Winter Fun: Ice Skating!
Every winter since 2005, MacArthur Center has a special ice skating rink. It's called "MacArthur on Ice." The rink is about 7,200-square-foot (670 m2) in size. It's a super fun activity for families and friends during the colder months!
