Macedonia Blas Flores grew up in El Bothe, a small place in the municipality of Amealco, Querétaro, Mexico. She is a mother of 12 children. For many years, she made and sold handicrafts.
Since 1997, she has been working with the Fotzi Ñahño organization. Through this group, she teaches people about human rights. She also helps women in her community. Her work includes holding workshops for women. These workshops teach about important topics like how to prevent harm to young girls. She also helps with projects that involve growing vegetables. Her Journey as an Activist
In 2003, Macedonia Blas Flores faced a difficult situation. After this, she decided to speak up for her rights. She was advised by a human rights group in the state of Hidalgo. She became the first Indigenous woman to file a formal complaint about such an event.
She traveled to Mexico City and shared her story with members of Congress. This brought a lot of attention from other activists and the media. Later, in 2017, Blas Flores received the "Nelson Mandela" Medal of Honor. This award was given to her by the Legislative Power of Querétaro, recognizing her important contributions.
