Sortie! Machine Robo Rescue (出撃!マシンロボレスキュー, Shutsugeki! Mashin Robo Resukyū) is an exciting mecha anime TV show from 2003. It was made by a company called Sunrise. This series is the third part of the Machine Robo anime story. It is based on cool toys created by PLEX and Bandai.
The show was directed by Mamoru Kanbe and written by Hideki Sonoda. It aired in Japan on TV Tokyo from January 8, 2003, to January 3, 2004. There are 53 episodes in total.

Saving the Day: The Story of MRR
In the future, special skills are more important than age. The Machine Robo Rescue (MRR) group was created for this reason. It brings together amazing robots and talented kids. Their mission is to work as partners and save people from danger.
Twelve children with unique abilities are chosen for the Robo Rescue program. Taiyou Oozora is one of these kids. He is just starting his life as an MRR member. The MRR team faces tough training. They must learn to protect many lives.
Meet the Heroes: MRR Characters
The twelve children are split into three teams. Each team focuses on a different type of rescue. These kids are called Robo Masters (RM). They work with their Machine Robos. The Robos can combine with other Support Robos. This happens only when their RMs give permission. They use special communicator cellphones called K-Boys to do this.
Red Wings: Fire and Air Rescues
The Red Wings were the first rescue team at MRR. They are experts at fighting fires and performing rescues from the air. Their team color is red. Their symbol is an open hand, like the "paper" sign. Their emblem shows wings around a diamond shape. Instructor Musashi leads this team.
- Taiyou Ozora (大空 太陽, Ōzora Taiyō)
Taiyou is the Robo Master for Jet Robo and Shuttle Robo. He is an expert in air rescues. He is a "survival natural," meaning he can sense danger and survive tough situations. Taiyou became an orphan after a plane crash four years before joining MRR. He was the only survivor. A robot named Rescue Red saved him. He is a leader of the Red Wings team with Ace. Taiyou is often reckless and likes to solve problems quickly. Sometimes, he relies too much on his special ability. Later, he worked in Sabah, Africa, for International Hyper Rescue. He has a pet dog named Bone.
- Arias "Ace" Honou (エリアス 炎, Ariasu Honō)
Ace is the Robo Master for Fire Robo. He is a specialist in fighting and preventing fires. His father is also a fireman and an expert in fire disasters. Ace is very knowledgeable. He likes to do things himself and wants his teammates to depend on him. At first, he often competed with Makoto, Daichi, and especially Taiyou. He later volunteered to teach the next generation of MRR members.
- Kai Kitazawa (北沢 海, Kitazawa Kai)
Kai is a co-pilot of the Red Wings' transport, the Wing-Liner. He helps the Red Wings team during rescues, working with Rin. He is very smart and usually calm. Later, he and Jay were assigned to space for International Hyper Rescue. They live on a satellite.
- Rin Haruka (遥 鈴, Haruka Rin)
Rin is the main pilot of the Wing-Liner. She is also a mountain rescue specialist. She is half-Japanese and half-Chinese. Rin is the only team member who isn't afraid of heights during practice. She provides backup for the Red Wings with Kai. After some special robots called Gura Gorros were used, she became their Robo Master. She was assigned to Paris for International Hyper Rescue.
Blue Sirens: Police and Road Safety
The Blue Sirens were the second MRR rescue team. They handle police situations, road accidents, and catching criminals. Their team color is blue. Their symbol is a peace sign made with the hand, which also means "scissors." Their emblem has police lights, olive branches, and a black tire. Instructor Koshiro leads the Blue Sirens.
- Makoto Aikawa (愛川 誠, Aikawa Makoto)
Makoto is the Robo Master for Police Robo. He comes from a family of police officers. He is very strict with his teammates. People sometimes call him the "cold guy" because he always follows the rules. Later, he left Machine Robo Rescue to gain more experience as a policeman. He took Police Robo and the Bike Robos with him.
- Susumu Utada (歌田 進, Utada Susumu)
Susumu is the Robo Master for Gyro Robo. He is a mechanic and engineering specialist. He is Tsuyoshi's twin brother. Susumu always knows what his brother is thinking. He is the machinery expert of the twins. Later, he and his brother were assigned to New York for International Hyper Rescue.
- Tsuyoshi Utada (歌田 強, Utada Tsuyoshi)
Tsuyoshi is the co-pilot of the Blue Sirens' Siren-Galley transport. He is also a mechanic and engineering specialist. He is Susumu's twin brother. Tsuyoshi always knows what his brother is thinking. Later, he and his brother were assigned to New York for International Hyper Rescue.
- Alice Beckham (アリス・ベッカム, Arisu Bekkamu)
Alice is the main pilot of the Blue Sirens' Siren-Galley transport. She used to be a child actress. Now, she helps with MRR's public relations. She provides backup for the Blue Sirens. She also volunteered to teach the next generation of MRR members.
Yellow Gears: Extreme and Underwater Rescues
The Yellow Gears are the last MRR rescue team. They specialize in tough rescue situations. This includes earthquakes, falling debris, building collapses, and underwater rescues. Their team color is yellow. Their symbol is a closed hand, like the "rock" sign. Their emblem has two gears around a plate. Instructor Marie leads this team.
- Daichi Hayami (速水 大地, Haiyami Daichi)
Daichi is the Robo Master for Drill Robo. He has great spatial awareness. This means he can guess distances and sizes just by looking. He is usually shy. His stomach often hurts before a rescue mission. He later left Machine Robo Rescue to help Professor Suidoubashi. He helped develop new Machine Robos. He also owns the company that builds new parts for Machine Robos.
- Shou Ashikawa (芦川ショウ, Ashikawa Shō)
Shou is the Robo Master for Submarine Robo. He is an expert in sea and underwater rescues. He is also the best swimmer among the team members. He and Ken are the happy members of MRR. They make people laugh and smile. He also volunteered to teach the next generation of MRR members.
- Sayuri Suizenji (水前寺 小百合, Suizenji Sayuri)
Sayuri is the main pilot of the Yellow Gears' Gear-Dump transport. She is also a medical specialist. She has a special ability to make anyone she talks to feel calm. She provides backup for the Yellow Gears with Ken. She later left MRR to create new laws. These laws would make International Hyper Rescue work better.
- Ken Minami (美波ケン, Minami Ken)
Ken is the co-pilot of the Gear Dump. He also acts as a backup Robo-Master for the Yellow Gears. He helps the Yellow Gears with Sayuri. He sometimes acts in a gentle way. He later became the official doctor for the next MRR generation.
MRR Stealth: Air, Land, and Space Combat
This team was formed by Jay and V-Stealth Robo. They specialize in fighting in the air, on land, and in space. Their team color is violet. Their symbol is a hand with fingers pointing in different directions. Their emblem is a simple drawing of V-Stealth Robo's vehicle mode with lightning.
- Jay (ジェイ, Jei)
Jay's real name is Junior. He is the Robo Master for V-Stealth Robo. He used to work for the bad guys, Kaiser-G. But he changed and joined MRR. He is a combat specialist. He is also a "survivor natural" like Taiyou. His past is a bit mysterious. He was involved in a space accident as a baby. He was the only survivor. He was found by an exploration team and later captured by the bad guys. He was trained to be a warrior. Later, he and Kai were assigned to space for International Hyper Rescue.
MRR Staff and Other Characters
- Musashi Miyajima (宮島 武蔵, Miyajima Musashi)
Musashi is one of the MRR Instructors. He can be stubborn but has a good heart. He is in charge of the Red Wings.
- Koshiro Sasaki (佐々木 古志郎, Sasaki Kōshiro)
Koshiro is the second MRR Instructor. He is calm and cool. But he can get upset when his trainees get into trouble. He is in charge of the Blue Sirens.
- Marie Bitou (尾藤 マリー, Bitō Marie)
Marie is the third and only female instructor at MRR. She is the daughter of the founder, Brad Bitou. She often calls her father "Chief." She is in charge of the Yellow Gears.
- Brad Bitou (尾藤 ブラッド, Bitō Brad)
Brad is the founder of MRR. He helped create the Machine Robos with Tohru Suidohbashi. He was also involved in creating Kaiser-G.
- Tohru Suidohbashi (水道橋 徹, Suidōbashi Tōru)
Tohru is the main developer of the Machine Robos. He and Brad worked together. They founded MRR after a problem with Stealth Robo.
- Bone (ボン, Bone)
Bone is Taiyo's pet dog. He is a purebred Saint Bernard. He also survived the same plane crash that killed Taiyo's parents.
The Bad Guys: Disasters
The Disasters are the main enemy group in the series. They are led by Kaiser-G. They try to stop MRR's rescue missions.
- Cap.Hazard
Cap. Hazard is Kaiser-G's main helper. He is a bad guy who wants to create more disasters and chaos. MRR defeated him before Kaiser-G was fully active.
- Kaiser-G
Kaiser-G is the leader of the Disasters. He also adopted Jay as a baby. He is a very powerful supercomputer. Brad Bitou created him, but he went out of control years later. His goal was to cause the worst disaster on Earth. He wanted an asteroid to crash into the planet. Taiyoh, Jay, Machine Commander Robo V, and Shuttle Robo finally defeated him.

Machine Robo
- MR-01L Jet Robo/MR-S01L Shuttle Robo
Robo Master: Taiyoh Ohzora
Jet Robo is Taiyoh's Machine Robo partner. He is built for aerial rescues and helps put out fires. In vehicle mode, he looks like a jet. In robot mode, he is a blue jet. After being damaged, he was rebuilt for space rescues. He became Shuttle Robo and commanded Space Robos. Jet Robo can combine with Sky Robos to form Hyper Jet Robo. Shuttle Robo can combine with Space Robos to become Hyper Shuttle Robo. His special attacks are Jet Puncher and Shuttle Puncher.
- MR-04L Fire Robo
Robo Master: Arias "Ace" Honoh
Fire Robo is Ace's Machine Robo partner. He is great at putting out fires. In vehicle mode, he looks like a fire truck. In robot mode, he has two water guns. He can put out fires with water and foam. Ace gives the command for Fire Robo and the Aider Robos to combine. They form Hyper Fire Robo. His special attack is Hydro Splasher.
- MR-05L Police Robo
Robo Master: Makoto Aikawa
Police Robo is Makoto's Machine Robo partner. He is an expert on roads and catching criminals. He has a strong sense of justice. In vehicle mode, he looks like a police car. When Makoto gives the command, Police Robo and the Bike Robos combine. They form Hyper Police Robo. His special attack is Back Fire.
- MR-02L Gyro Robo
Robo Master: Susumu and Tsuyoshi Utada
Gyro Robo is Susumu and Tsuyoshi's Machine Robo partner. He also has a strong sense of justice. He was sent to MRR after an incident in New York. He can be a bit overconfident. He is the only robot with two Robo Masters. In vehicle mode, he looks like a Gyro Jet. When Susumu or Tsuyoshi give the command, Gyro Robo and the Helicopter Robos combine. They form Hyper Gyro Robo. His special attack is Gyro Shooter.
- MR-03L Drill Robo
Robo Master: Daichi Hayami
Drill Robo is Daichi's Machine Robo partner. He is a bit unique. He can drill through the earth for extreme rescues. He is the strongest among the leader robots. In vehicle mode, he looks like a Drill Tank. Daichi gives the command for him and the Dozer Robos to form Hyper Drill Robo. His special attack is Drill Attack.
- MR-06L Submarine Robo
Robo Master: Shoh Ashikawa
Submarine Robo is Sho's Machine Robo partner. He specializes in underwater rescues. He has a cool accent and loves the ocean. He can understand ocean animals. In vehicle mode, he looks like a submarine and powerboat mix. When Sho gives the command, Submarine Robo and the Aqua Robos combine. They form Hyper Submarine Robo. His special attack is Bubble Smash.
- MR-00L Stealth Robo/MR-V00L V-Stealth Robo
Robo Master: Jay
Stealth Robo was the original Machine Robo. All other Machine Robos were based on him. He was deactivated after almost destroying a facility. The Disasters later got him, and Jay chose him as his Robo Master. Stealth Robo was purple and could unleash powerful blasts. After Jay left the Disasters, MRR repaired and rebuilt him. He became V-Stealth Robo, now white with purple. He can combine with a special booster wing pack to form Hyper V-Stealth Robo. He can also combine with Machine Commander to form Machine Commander Robo V. His special attack is Burst Tempest. He can even turn invisible! His vehicle looks like an F-117 Stealth Fighter.
Transporters
- TMR-01WL Wing Liner
Pilots: Rin Haruka, Kai Kitazawa
This is the transport unit for the Red Wings. It looks like a set of bullet trains. It carries Fire Robo and the Aider Robos. It is the tallest transporter in robot mode. When Rin and Kai activate its robot mode, it becomes Wing Liner Robo.
- TMR-02SG Siren Galley
Pilots: Alice Beckham
This is the Blue Siren's transport unit. In vehicle mode, it looks like an armored van. When Alice, Susumu, or Tsuyoshi activate its robot mode, it becomes Siren Galley Robo.
- TMR-03GD Gear Dump
Pilots: Sayuri Suizenji, Ken Minami
This is the Yellow Gear's transport unit. It is the shortest of all MRR transporters. In vehicle mode, it looks like a huge haul truck. When Sayuri and Ken activate its robot mode, it becomes Gear Dump Robo.
- TMR-04MC Machine Commander
This is the last MRR transporter. It has three units: Red Commander, Blue Commander, and Yellow Commander. Each leader robot goes inside one commander unit. All three commanders combine to form Machine Commander or Machine Commander Robo. This unit can also combine with V-Stealth Robo to become Machine Commander Robo V. Its special attacks include Zone Release and Mighty Flash.
Disaster Robots
- Gura Gorros
These robots were made by Kaiser-G to cause trouble for Machine Robo Rescue. After Kaiser-G was defeated, three of them were trained. Rin Haruka was assigned to them as the Gura Gorro Rescue Squad.
- BL Fire Robo/Hyper BL Fire Robo
This was the first Black Machine Robo made by the Disasters. He is a black/violet version of Fire Robo. He uses fire instead of water. He was often seen fighting in the series. Machine Commander Robo V destroyed him. His special attack is Burning Storm.
- BL Police Robo/Hyper BL Police Robo
This is the second Black Machine Robo. He is a black version of Police Robo. Machine Commander Robo destroyed him. His special attack is Exhaust Bomber.
- BL Drill Robo/Hyper BL Drill Robo
This is the last Black Machine Robo. He is a brown/olive version of Drill Robo. Stealth Robo defeated him. His special attack is Power Crusher.
Cap. Hazard commanded all three Black Machine Robos using his black K-Boy.

- Air Leon - This special Mugenbine Machine Robo appeared in a two-part special. It was part of the MRR.
