The site is found on the left side of the Kuntichaka River. This river is also known as Condechaca. The Kuntichaka River flows into the Utcubamba River. The location near these rivers was important for the Chachapoyas people.

Who Were the Chachapoyas?

The Chachapoyas culture lived in the Andes mountains of Peru. They were sometimes called the "Warriors of the Clouds."
