What Was Mad for It?
Mad for It was a popular show where young contestants got to play cool games. It was known for its lively atmosphere and, of course, for getting people covered in green slime! The show ran for two series, bringing lots of laughs and messy fun to kids across the UK.
Meet the Hosts
The first series of Mad for It was hosted by Mike McClean and Yiolanda Tokkallos. They were already well-known from other children's TV shows. For the second series, Mike McClean returned, joined by new hosts Danielle Nicholls and Nigel Mitchell.
Awesome Games You Could Play
Mad for It featured several exciting games that contestants played to win. Here are some of the most memorable ones:
Stars Up Their Noses
This game was a bit like a talent show. Contestants had 30 seconds to show off a special talent they had. The name of the game was a funny twist on a popular adult talent show called Stars in Their Eyes. A famous singer, Katie Melua, actually won this game when she was a teenager!
Box Clever
In "Box Clever," contestants had to answer questions correctly. If they got an answer right, they got to pick a prize from a special box. It was a game of knowledge and a bit of luck!
That's My Pet
This game was all about guessing! Contestants had to figure out which animal was their pet from a group of similar-looking animals. It sounds tricky, right?
Gunge and Pie Boy Fun!
One of the most famous parts of Mad for It was the "gunge"! This was a thick, green, slimy goo that often ended up poured all over the losing contestants. Sometimes, even the hosts got slimed!
If you lost a game, you were sent to the "Dungeon of Gunge." This was a special area right under a giant nose that would pour gunge onto the unlucky players. In the very last episode, the tables turned, and even Pie Boy got a taste of his own medicine when he was pushed into the dungeon!
Famous Faces on the Show
The most well-known person to appear on Mad for It was Katie Melua. She was only fifteen years old when she was on the show. Katie won the "Stars Up Their Noses" game by singing a song called "Without You" by the band Badfinger. If she hadn't won, she would have been covered in gunge!
