The Madeira Brewery (its Portuguese name is Empresa de Cervejas da Madeira, or E.C.M.) is a company that makes drinks on Madeira Island. It is the biggest company that produces and sells drinks in this part of Portugal.
The brewery makes both alcoholic drinks, like beer, and non-alcoholic drinks, like sodas. Their main beer brand is called Coral Lager. The company has received many awards for its drinks. It also follows strict quality rules (called ISO 9001) and environmental rules (called ISO 14001).

Coral & Zarco Beers
Coral beer was first made in 1969. You can find it in Madeira and mainland Portugal. It is also sold in countries like the UK, Australia, and Angola.

- Coral Branca is a Lager beer (5.3% alcohol). It was introduced in 1969.
- Coral Tónica is a Stout beer (5.1% alcohol). It also started in 1969.
- Coral Sem Álcool Branca is a non-alcoholic Lager (0.5% alcohol). It was introduced in 2003.
- Coral Sem Álcool Tónica is a non-alcoholic Stout (0.5% alcohol). It also started in 2003.
- Zarco is another Lager beer (4.5% alcohol).

History of the Brewery
The Madeira Brewery has a long history that goes back to the 1800s.
- 1872: A company called “H.P Miles & Cia" was started. Its goal was to make Beer and soft drinks on Madeira.
- 1922: Another company, “Araújo, Tavares e Passos," was created for the same purpose.
- 1934: The two companies, “H.P Miles & Cia” and “Araújo, Tavares e Passos,” decided to join together. They formed one new company called Empresa de Cervejas da Madeira. This is the company we know today!
- 1999: The Pestana Group, a large hotel and tourism company, bought most of the shares in E.C.M. They now own the company, working with the Miles family who first started the beer industry in Madeira.
