This special house, located at 343 Durham Market Square, was built in a fancy style called Second Empire, with some Italianate touches. Because of its unique look and history, the Kincardine government officially listed it as a historic place in 1985.

The Madison House is one of the oldest buildings still standing in Kincardine, Ontario. Only the Paddy Walker House is older! A man named Thomas C. Rooklidge built this impressive house in the 1870s. Later, in 1886, it was bought by John Gentles. He was a liveryman, which means he rented out horses and carriages.

Built in 1877, this mansion is huge! It measures about 9250 square feet and has three stories. The Madison House was first built as a home for one family. But over the years, it has been used for many different things. It has been home to shops, restaurants, offices, and even a funeral home.
Today, the main floor of the house is used for businesses. The upper floors have apartments. There's a large two-story apartment with three bedrooms. There are also two other apartments, each with two bedrooms.

Many people believe the Madison House is haunted. They say that sad or violent events happened there long ago. The spirits of those who passed away are said to still be in the house. This makes it a very interesting place for ghost hunters!
