Mads Østberg started his rally career in 2004. His first big event in the World Rally Championship was the 2006 Swedish Rally. He finished 31st in his Subaru Impreza WRC car. Later that year, he competed in two more WRC rallies.

In 2007, Mads kept racing his Subaru Impreza. He earned his first WRC point by finishing eighth at the 2007 Rally Finland. This was a big step for him! He also won the Norwegian Rally Championship that year.

Mads continued to race in the WRC with the Adapta team in 2008 and 2009. In 2009, he had his best finish yet at the 2009 Rally Portugal, coming in sixth place.

In 2011, Mads joined the Stobart M-Sport Ford team. He drove a Ford Fiesta RS WRC and had a fantastic year. He finished second twice, first at the 2011 Rally Sweden and then at the 2011 Rally GB. He ended the season in sixth place overall, which was a great achievement.

First WRC Win

The year 2012 was very special for Mads. He got his first-ever WRC win at the 2012 Rally de Portugal! This was a huge moment because he was the first driver from outside France or Finland to win a rally since 2005. He was also only the second Norwegian driver to win a WRC event. He finished the 2012 season in an impressive fourth place overall.

In 2013, Mads returned to the M-Sport team. He earned two podium finishes (meaning he finished in the top three) and ended the season in sixth place. The next year, in 2014, he moved to the Citroën team. He achieved four podium finishes and ranked fifth in the championship.

Mads continued with Citroën in 2015. He had two second-place finishes and ended up fourth in the championship. This made him the "best of the rest" behind the top three drivers from the Volkswagen team.

In 2016, Mads went back to M-Sport. He got two third-place finishes and ended the season in seventh place. After this, he decided to race less often in 2017 because he and his wife were expecting their first child.

Mads Østberg has shown great skill and determination throughout his rally career, achieving many top finishes and a memorable WRC victory.
