History of Mae

The community of Mae got its start with a post office in 1906. A post office is where people send and receive letters and packages. This post office served the area for many years, staying open until 1955. The name "Mae" was given to the community by an early postmaster, a person in charge of the post office, named Mae Shoemaker. So, the place was named after her!
