Maeser (pronounced MAY-zer) is a community in Uintah County, Utah, in the United States. It's known as a "census-designated place" (CDP). This means it's an area the government identifies for gathering statistics, but it's not an official city or town with its own local government.

In 2020, about 4,081 people lived in Maeser. The community is named after Karl Maeser, who was a well-known educator.

History of Maeser

Maeser was first settled by people in 1878. For a while, it was an "incorporated municipality," which means it had its own local government and rules, starting in 1935. However, on July 9, 1970, Maeser "disincorporated." This means it stopped being an official municipality and went back to being an unincorporated community.

Geography and Location

Maeser is located in Uintah County, Utah. The United States Census Bureau says that the total area of Maeser is about 6.5 square miles (which is about 16.8 square kilometers). All of this area is land, with no large bodies of water.

The community is situated to the west of U.S. Route 191. It is also near the beautiful Ashley National Forest, a large protected area with many trees and natural landscapes.
