Magda Sabbahi (born Afaf Ali Kamel Sabbahi) was a famous Egyptian actress. She was known by her stage name, Magda. She starred in many films from 1949 until 1994. Magda was born on May 6, 1931, and passed away on January 16, 2020, at the age of 88.

Who Was Magda Sabbahi?

Magda Sabbahi was born in a city called Tanta in Egypt. She became one of the biggest stars in Egyptian movies. She played the main character in about sixty films! To make it easier for people to remember her, she chose the stage name Magda.

Magda's Film Career

In 1956, Magda decided to start her very own company. This company made movies. Two years later, in 1958, she played the main role in a movie called Jamila al Jaza'iriya. This film was about a real-life hero named Djamila Bouhired. Magda acted alongside other famous stars like Salah Zulfikar and Ahmed Mazhar.

In 1963, Magda married an actor named Ihab Nafe. They had one daughter together, named Ghada, who was born in 1965.

Later, in 1968, Magda starred in another important movie. It was called El Ragol El-lazi fakad Zilloh, which means The Man Who Lost His Shadow. This movie was based on a book by Fathy Ghanem. Magda worked again with Salah Zulfikar in this film.

Later Life and Legacy

Magda was also a leader in the film community. In 1995, she was chosen to be the president of the Egyptian Women in Film Association. This group helps women who work in movies in Egypt.

Magda Sabbahi passed away at her home in Cairo, Egypt. She was 88 years old and left behind a wonderful collection of films.
